Client Boston Redevelopment Authority
Architect NBBJ
Location Boston, Massachusetts

Scope Design and implementation of interpretive glass display panels strategically located to define a path through downtown Boston.

The Walk to the Sea is a series of ten internally illuminated glass displays placed over a distance of one mile from Boston’s State House on Beacon Hill down to the end of Long Wharf, passing over ground that was once a part of the sea. Using text and contemporary and historic maps, photographs, etchings, and paintings, the Walk to the Sea illustrates 400 years of the city’s changing relationship with the sea.
