The Hotchkiss School

The Hotchkiss School overlooks the scenic Berkshires in Lakeville, Connecticut.  A preparatory school for grades 9–12 founded in 1891, the school launched a campus signage program that strengthens their identity across the rural campus while improving wayfinding.

Roll Barresi & Associates designed a complete exterior signage system for the school, which includes wayfinding along the perimeter and campus interior, pedestrian orientation, as well as residence hall signs.

Recently completed and installed, Phase 1 focused on the campus interior. Phase 2, which addresses the campus perimeter and entrances, is slated for completion the summer of 2016.

The Fairfield Farm is Hotchkiss’ 270-acre organic farm where students help grow food for their dining hall. Poetry and art classes find inspiration on the farm and environmental science classes also use the facility to explore terrain and bird life.
