Denise Lugar / Principal

Denise oversees the design and management of the firm’s more complex wayfinding and graphic systems projects. In this role, she deftly navigates between the macro and the micro, keeping an eye on the big picture while also tracking project details and staying current with changing compliance requirements. A skilled communicator, she facilitates on going collaboration with clients, architects, and designers.

Prior to joining Roll, Barresi & Associates, Denise was an associate at The Architects Collaborative. Denise’s training as an architect not only makes her an invaluable liaison with architecture and interior design firms, but also informs her work in experience design. She regards seamless integration of graphics into a built space or landscape as a true measure of success. She finds it particularly rewarding when graphics help unify major expansions of existing institutions, as in the case Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, or the Boston Children’s Museum.

Recognized as a leader in the field, Denise helped develop a course in architectural graphic design for Massachusetts College of Art & Design, and several of her projects with Roll, Barresi & Associates have been published in Identity, Facilities Design and Management, and Architectural Record.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from Pennsylvania State University.
